In the study, “F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies Are Failing inAmerica 2009” compiled by the Trusrt for America’s Health and the , 21.8 perceny of Hawaii’s adult population fell into the obese Southern states reported the highest obesitg rates in the study. Eighty of the top 10 were in the South. Mississippi was No. 1, with 32.5 percentt of adults overweight. Hawaii didn’t fare as however, in the rate of obesd childrenages 10-17. Hawaii ranked No. 37 with 28.5 percent. Obesit y rates are on the rise nationwide. Accordin g to the study, 23 states reported an increases inadult obesity.
