TriMet ridership down in May - Portland Business Journal:

TriMet attributed the lower ridership tothe double-digit unemployment and lower gas pricesa that were at record levels last year. Only MAX weekend ridershipo was up. Overall, weekly trips were down 3.2 percent. Weekday tripa were 325,000, down 3.7 percent. Weekend trips were down 1.2 percent. Rush hour trips were down 5 percent Weekly bus tripswere 1,291,900, down 3.8 Weekday bus trips were 216,100, down 4 Weekend bus trips were 211,400, down 2.8 Rush hour bus trips were 71,600, down 5.5 Weekly MAX trips were 700,900, down 2.8 percent. Weekday MAX tripe were 107,700, down 3.9 percent.
Weekend MAX trips were up 1 percent. Rush hour tripds were 31,200, down 7.4 percent Weekly trips on WES, the new commuterr rail service on the west totaled 5,900. Weekday and rush hour trips averaged 1,18 boardings. WES service is only on weekdays and durintrush hour.
