The medical school suffered severee damage followingHurricane Ike. Half of the fundiny will be used toward paying for expensed likemoisture control, decontamination and cleaning up heating and air conditioninhg systems, microbial remediation, telecommunications recovery restoration of electronicc and other vital records and equipment recoveryu and replacement. “The funds for UTMB are a critica l piece of our ongoing Public Assistance programk reimbursementsfor Texas,” says Federal Coordinatingy Officer Stephen M. “To date, FEMA has obligatedf almost $209 million across the disaste r forinfrastructure repairs, emergency measures and debris State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun says Texaxs continues to recover from Ike. “The UTMB facility suffered greatly fromthe hurricane,” Haun says. “Wr are pleased that FEMA has been able to expedite help to the FEMA basedits $38.9 million advance on invoices submitted from UTMB consultants hired to assessa the damage caused by Ike.
