Bev Perdue announcef the expansion Thursday, with the state givint NACA a $1 millionb grant from the One NorthCarolina Fund. ” NACA is headquartere in Boston and operates more than 40 officea nationwide. It currently employds about 100 workers in Mecklenburg County to originate and procesxmortgage loans. Under the five-yeard state incentive agreement, the organization plans to add 550 jobs The jobs will pay an average annuakl wageof $35,982. Salaries will range up to $80,00 0 annually. The hiring will focus on mortgage negotiators, customer-services representatives, call-center managers and mortgage counselors. “NACA is excitecd that it’s putting more than 1,000 people to work durinhg these tougheconomic times,” NACA Chief Executive Bruce Marks said Thursday.
“Today’s announcement is more than just a sound bite — we are following througnh on this investment by holding a jobs fair tomorroq to hire 550 people immediately.” Perduer said Thursday that she consulted with former Bank of Americaa Corp. Chairman Hugh McColl Jr. about the deal. McColkl has been a longtime supporterdof NACA’s work. BofA began a partnership with NACAunder McColl’s watch in 1995 and in 2004 committesd $6 billion to its lending program. Perduse says McColl confirmed to her that he expecterd NACA could follow through on its job commitmentes in severalphone conversations.
